Yvon Lambert - Douglas Gordon At The MMK Museum Fur Moderne Kunst

Douglas Gordon (b. 1966) is among the most important as well as the most influential artists of his generation. While he made a name for himself with films and large-scale video installations, his oeuvre also encompasses photographs, texts, sculptures and sound installations.

Gordon's work "Play Dead. Real Time" ( 2003) from the MMK collection forms the point of departure for his major solo exhibition. Apart from photo installations rich in imagery such as " Straight to Hell; No Way Black" and recent additions to the series " Self- Portrait of You + Me", the show will also feature three further large-scale film and video installations. The film about Zinedine Zidane made in 2006 in collaboration with the French artist Philippe Parreno will be installed for the first time on several separate monitors. In 2010 , Gordon completed "K.364", a film about history and the present based on a journey taken by two Israeli musicians from Berlin to Warsaw , where they perform Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante( Köchel no.364). Gordon 's latest work, Henry Rebel  Burning and Drawing , made in cooperation with James Franco and the young actor Henry Hopper, will here be premiered. The MMK exhibition was conceived in close collaboration with the artist and creates an overview of his work as intense as it is impressive.
